Edit part of a YouTube thumbnail. Mark an area and change just that part.

To change one part of a thumbnail you made in WThumb, an AI thumbnail maker for YouTube, mark that part and say what should change there. Under a finished 16:9 or 9:16 thumbnail in Studio, press Change it, then Mark an area, draw around the part or brush over it, and write the change. You get a new version, and the rest of the picture stays as it was.

WHAT CHANGES

One part changed, the rest as it was.

A real WThumb thumbnail before and after one marked change. On the left, the car drawn around in Studio with the words "Make the car glossy red"; on the right, the new version, where the car came back red while the man, the road, the sunset and the headline stayed as they were. No canvas, no layers: your mark says where the change goes and your words say what it is. This kind of edit is often called inpainting or a masked edit. The new version comes back at the size of the one you marked, 2048 × 1152 or 1152 × 2048, with no watermark, and it is a thumbnail like any other: change it again, mark it again, or turn a 16:9 one into its Shorts version.

A WThumb thumbnail with one area marked: a thoughtful man beside a white Tesla Model Y at sunset, headline worth it?, the car covered by a magenta mark with the words Make the car glossy red

HOW IT WORKS

Edit part of a YouTube thumbnail in three steps.

Open the Studio
  1. Open Change it on a finished thumbnail

In Studio, press Change it under a 16:9 or 9:16 thumbnail you made, then press Mark an area. The picture opens with the marking tools.

  2. Mark each part and say the change

Choose Draw around to circle a part or Brush to paint over it, then write what should change there. Each part gets its own color and its own words, up to 6 parts. On a computer the words box opens on the part you drew; on a phone the parts are listed under the picture, each with its words and a cross to remove it.

  3. Make the change

Press Make the change once every part has its words. The new version uses 1 credit, and the thumbnail you marked stays in My thumbnails.

MARK THE AREA

Tips and limits for marking an area.

Give each part one request

Write one change a part, in plain words: make the jacket red, or put a lit lantern in his hand. Once a part has its words, your next stroke starts a new one. To bring in a logo or a product, attach its image, then type @1 in that part's words, or press the image's @1 badge while that part is open.

Mark roughly, but mark all of it

A rough mark is enough: the change can reach the outline of the thing you marked. A change made far from every mark is put back, and so is a change of color or light that runs past the mark, so mark everything that should change.

Know the limits

Marking works only on thumbnails made in WThumb. An image you upload becomes the reference for a new design, which you can then mark. A mark over nearly the whole picture is refused: for a change across the whole picture, such as night instead of day, leave Mark an area off and describe it in Change it. A change refused before it starts costs nothing, and one that fails gives its credit back.
